William Hogarth was perhaps the greatest visual satirist of his age and in this image, he lampoons the Church of England of his day. We see an oblivious and well-fed Parson reading his sermon from a double-decker pulpit, blissfully unaware that his congregation are fast asleep. His parish clerk is the only one who seems to stir, his one eye open spying on the sleeping woman next to him, who is just about to drop her prayer book and fan.  This is a blank A5 (148 x 210mm) greetings card printed on 350gsm card stock and comes complete with an ivory envelope.
