This beautiful blank journal is bound in full goatskin leather and has been decorated with the sort of blind tooled decoration that was common in the early Tudor period - around 1520-30. The decoration is applied to the hand-dyed leather by hand using antique bookbinding tools. The paper inside the block is a very high quality off-white laid paper called Hahnemuhle Ingres, which is good for writing and for the sketching, it has been sewn onto hemp cord with linen thread. To finish off the text block, the edges have been sprinkled with indigo and line endbands have been sewn on.
