This unique notebook has made with the same materials and methods that were used in the early 16th century and it has a simple, minimalist elegance.
The block of the book is a very fine quality recycled writing paper, lovely to write on - which is sewn onto hemp cording using linen thread. Providing a splash of colour, the block has been topped and bottomed with endbands that are sewn using vegetable dyed linen thread. The boards of the book have been crafted from solid wood, quartersawn beech and these have been carefully shaped with hand tools and sanded to a smooth finish. The spine of the book has been covered with a hand dyed, mottled Calfskin, which has been very simply decorated with blind tooling.
The result is a book that is traditional, but has contemporary aesthetic - a tractile book that is to be used, but can also be treasured.
